PS4 online gaming will be free in North America this weekend

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced that it will be offering free online gaming on PlayStation 4 in the U.S. this weekend.

In other words, you won’t need to worry about having a PlayStation Plus subscription to take your game online. It’s not bad timing either considering Street Fighter V has just come out, which will no doubt prove a popular choice among PS4 owners for its fast-paced online brawls.

Free multiplayer will kick off on Friday, February 19, at 12:01 AM Pacific and will remain accessible until Sunday, February 21, at 11:59 PM Pacific.

Remember, this applies to any PS4 game with an online multiplayer component, so be sure to take advantage of the offer if you haven’t yet signed up for PS Plus.

Right now it isn’t known if Sony will be offering a similar offer to its European customers, so as far as we know this pertains only to the U.S. at the moment. We’ll be sure to update this article if we hear otherwise.
