PS4 ‘Share Play’ will cap guests to 720p — report

According to Eurogamer, the upcoming Share Play feature for PlayStation 4—due as part of this week’s Firmware 2.0 update—will apply a resolution cap of 720p on the guest player.

The feature allows a user equipped with PlayStation Plus to invite any other PS4 gamer to play a title, such as joining a multiplayer session or taking over a part of the other person’s game to give them a helping hand.

Sony demonstrated Share Play at a recent event attender by EG, where the console giant showed off FIFA 15 being played by two PS4 gamers via a wired Internet connection.

While the site claims that the image quality was impressive, it noted that the guest player’s experienced was capped to 720p, with some noticeable frame rate drops also present.
