PS4 tops U.S. hardware for February 2015

Sony’s PlayStation 4 has beaten Xbox One in February U.S. hardware figures, the NPD Group has revealed.

Demand for PlayStation 4 remains incredibly strong in the U.S. as it was #1 in hardware and software sales in February according to the latest NPD report. PS4 remains the cumulative leader in hardware sales with more than 20.2 million units sold to consumers worldwide demonstrating the fastest growth in PlayStation hardware history,” said the company.

In terms of software, PS4-exclusive The Order: 1886 managed to crack the Top 10, although it was the 3DS title, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, that topped the charts, followed by Evolve.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D (3DS)

Evolve (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Dying Light (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

NBA 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

Current-generation hardware is overall performing very well, with an NPD analyst noting that PS4 and Xbox One “have outsold the PS3 and the Xbox 360 combined 15 month totals by close to 60%” over the same time period.

Sony announced last week that PS4 worldwide sales have reached 20.2 million.
