PlayStation 4 will be the dominant home console throughout 2016, according to a number of the U.K.’s biggest video game stores speaking to MCV.
A massive 70 percent of store managers in the country feel that Sony’s current-generation format will lead the hardware battle next year, thanks largely to its exclusive lineup, which includes the likes of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, No Man’s Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, and PlayStation VR.
Just 27 percent of stores voted in favor of Microsoft’s Xbox One, which admittedly has enjoyed a successful year with the likes of Halo 5: Guardians. However, looking ahead, it’s clear that many feel the PS4 is the winning platform in the exclusive stakes.
Elsewhere, Uncharted 4 was named as the title which store managers are most looking forward to in 2016, nabbing 41 percent of votes. In second place is Tom Clancy’s The Division with 11 percent.
PS4 has enjoyed great success during 2015, with worldwide sales totalling 30.2 million as of November. While it isn’t known just how much Xbox One has sold, Sony’s console is believed to have a comfortable lead over its rival, and Microsoft has even admitted may not be able to catch up with the PS4. Furthermore, Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter reckons there’s nothing Xbox One can do to close the gap on its leading rival.
