PS4’s coolest accessories – pimp your gaming experience

Nothing complements your shiny new PS4 more than some cool new swag to accompany it. While some accessories work as nothing more than an aesthetic sidekick, some add more functionality and practicality to your gaming experience.

Out of all the cool third party and first party accessories out there, here’s a small list to keep in mind if you’re looking to accessorize your favorite gaming console…

Sony’s official PlayStation Gold wireless headset

Sony’s official headset offers PlayStation gamers a chance to become more immersed in their gaming experience by utilizing this virtual 7.1 surround sound wireless headset.

The set up is easy and it doesn’t require the hassle of wires or dock stations. Just simply plug in the little usb dongle into the front of your PS4 and you’re good to go.

The headset is comfortable, which is important for those long gaming sessions, and it also comes with customizable audio profiles which can be tweaked using the PlayStation companion app.

With a price point of just under $100 and the fact that it’s also compatible with PS4, PS3 and the Vita, it’s easy to recommend picking this one up.

Nyko’s PS4 Modular Charge station

There are many DualShock 4 charging stations out on the market but none as unique as Nyko’s PS4 Modular Charge Station. At the low price point of just under 25 bucks, it is definitely worth a look.

This interesting accessory actually rests on top of your PS4 without compromising the elegant look of your console. It is powered by connecting it to the two USB ports on the front of the PS4. A dongle is attached to each controller and then magnetically mounts onto the charge station. Powering up your controllers has never looked so cool.

PlayStation TV

What started off in Japan as the PlayStation Vita TV has since come to North America and in my opinion is one of Sony’s most underrated products. In actuality, PlayStation TV can be considered a console in its own right as its innards are basically that of the PlayStation Vita.

What makes it an accessory to the PS4 is its ability to stream your PS4 gameplay onto another TV in your household. Coincide that with the ability to play "many" of your Vita games via its memory card slot and you have yourself a neat little addition to your PlayStation family. Oh, and you can pick this up for only 79 bucks? That’s not too shabby at all.

Nyko Smart Clip

This neat little clip snaps onto your Dualshock 4 and enables you to attach your PlayStation app powered smartphone with ease. Search the web, text your friends and access the PlayStation app all without putting down the controller; and not only that, it makes your controller look a little more high tech with a touch of badass mixed in.

PlayStation 4 camera

PS4’s official camera has been available since the launch of the console and although games haven’t really utilized this peripheral to its full potential, it currently provides gamers with the ability to use voice commands and sign into their PS4 via face recognition. With PS4’s VR headset known currently as Project Morpheus most likely not too far off on the horizon, the PlayStation 4 camera will most likely be used to track the VR enabled device so don’t write it off just yet.

With the PS4 still in its early years, we can safely bet that there will be many more interesting accessories that we can spend our hard earned cash on. Some will be worth taking notice while others will just collect dust. Either way, many of us will be anticipating what Sony and other third party companies can come up with to further enhance our gaming experiences.
