Speaking during its latest earnings results earlier today, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that combined sales of PS5 and PS4 games hit 61.4 million during the fourth quarter of its 2020 fiscal year.
This figure is down on the 65.3 million software that was sold in the same period year-on-year. In addition, first-party games account for 7.9 million sales, with 79% being full digital downloads — up from the 68% figure reported during the same period last year.
Obviously the PS5 has only just come onto the scene, and last year the PS4 was in a slightly stronger position than it is now, as gamers have started making the transition to Sony’s new home console.

In case you missed it, Sony also revealed that PS Plus members have hit 47.6 million worldwide while the PS5 has moved 7.8 million units as of March 31, 2021. This is up from the 4.5 million consoles that had been sold by the end of last year.
