US NPD for December 2020 has now been released and it shows that both PS5 and PS4 had an incredibly successful 2020, with both consoles selling really well.
PS5 finished 2020 as the second best selling console of the year in dollar sales, while PS4 took the second spot for units sold. PS5 also set a new record with the most dollar sales for PlayStation hardware in that hardware’s first December of release.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales was the only game left in the top 20 for December software sales, but for the year overall, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2 were in the top 10, with Miles Morales also at number 12. Final Fantasy 7 Remake landed slap bang in the middle at position number 10.

So overall, it was a great year for PlayStation and that is likely set to continue in 2021, with PlayStation Studios developers creating a number of exclusives set to release this year.
