Bethesda’s Pete Hines has revealed that he’s gone hands-on with the PS5 DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, and has come away more than a little impressed with the successor to the DualShock 4 controller.

Pete Hines Talks PS5 DualSense Haptic Feedback

Hines took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the new controller, which Sony fully unwrapped in tantalising detail earlier this week.

I’ve gotten to try the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on this thing and was very impressed. I think games are gonna do some really cool things with them.

The DualSense controller’s design is quite similar to that of the DualShock 4, although Sony has made some changes here and there, giving it something of a futuristic vibe. In addition to the haptic feedback features, the pad also includes a built-in microphone and a new Create button, which replaces the Share button on the DS4.

Pleasingly, the device also comes with an audio jack for those of you who want to plug in your own headset, and Sony is working to ensure the battery life is up to scratch.

Pete Hines praises PS5 DualSense

Sony has said that it is encouraging users to come forward with accessibility questions about the DualSense on Twitter.

Sony is still targeting a holiday 2020 release for the PS5, and has said that there’s no delays in sight despite the disruption being cause by the COVID-19 outbreak. The price of the console has still yet to be determined, as it is believed Sony is waiting to see what Microsoft is doing with the Xbox Series X first.

The PS5 also boasts backwards compatibility, but it’s limited to PS4 games only; Microsoft’s console on the other hand allows users to play Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One titles out of the box. Rumors suggested Sony’s new console would be able to play more than just PS4 games, but that’s sadly not the case.
