According to data obtained by Finbold.com, Sony’s PS5 has sold more than 40,000 units every day on average in 2023, with nearly 1.7k consoles moved every hour.
The report goes on to say that as of October 2023, the PS5 sold an average of 1,238,109 units per month, with the highest month being March, where Sony’s flagships console moved 1,898,817 units. The lowest was April, although PS5 still pulled in 1,221,162 sales.
One of the main factors in the rise of PS5 sales this year is the fact the console is no longer plagued by stock shortages. The system launched in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in November 2020, and despite ample stock available for release, the PS5 not readily available in stores for about two years until the issue was resolved.
Last month, it was reported that the PS5 was outselling the Xbox Series X/S by at least 7:1 in select parts of Europe, with Microsoft’s console struggling to stimulate sales despite the release of a number of high-profile games including Forza and Starfield.
