According to data shared by Take-Two during its investor presentation yesterday, the PS5 outsold Xbox Series X/S by around 2:1 by the end of last year.
The Grand Theft Auto publisher claimed that 77 million current-generation consoles have been sold as of December 31, 2023, citing from IDG Consulting and Newzoo, as well as the Entertainment Software Association.
Sony revealed in December 2023 that the PS5 had reached 50 million sales, although Microsoft hasn’t shared any figures for Xbox Series X/S, and hasn’t actually revealed any hardware sales data since the Xbox One days.

It’s been well documented that sales of Xbox hardware have been lacklustre as of late, and Microsoft openly admitted to having “lost the console wars” last year after placing third behind Sony and Nintendo.
Rumours kicked off earlier this week that the format holder is looking to make a huge change in its strategy going forward, which involves bringing its titles to other formats. Some of the games touted to appear on PS5 and Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but it’s been suggested that even more title will end up on Sony’s console.
