Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched PS5 system update 23.01-07.01.00.00, which is now available to download. Unlike last week’s major PS5 firmware however, this latest patch doesn’t really add anything exciting
The official PS5 system software patch notes are as follows:
This system software update improves system performance.
The PS5 was released in November 2020 and has shipped 32 million units worldwide. Sony’s Jim Ryan declared earlier this year that the console shortage that has plagued the PS5 since launch is now over, and this has been reflected in a massive spike in sales.
As an example, UK sales of Sony’s latest home console for February 2023 were up 316% compared to the previous year. In addition, in Japan, the PS5 has now reached three million units sold.
Sony recently launched its latest foray into the virtual reality market with its success to the PSVR. You can read our full review of the device here.
