Jason Schreier has claimed that if a big-budget game studio were to start development on a brand new project today, it would likely be released for the PlayStation 6, as a result of the increased in video game production cycles.

Speaking of PS6 in general, Sony obviously hasn’t said anything about the console right now as the PS5 has only been out for just over two years. However, in a confidential document, the format holder has said that it doesn’t expect a successor to PS5 to arrive any earlier than 2027.
With PS4 turning 10 this year and still receiving new games, there’s no reason why the PS5 shouldn’t enjoy an equally lengthy lifecycle.
