PSP, PS3 lead hardware and software sales in Japan

The PSP has always been a force to be reckoned with in Japan, as is apparent on the Japanese hardware and software sales charts for the week ended August 7.

Atop the software chart sat Sega’s J-League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou! 7 Euro Plus for the PSP; a new soccer simulation title released in Japan that sold more than 100,000 units in its first week.

In terms of hardware, PlayStation continues its reign in the land of the rising sun snatching up the top two spots on the hardware sales chart, with the PSP pulling in over double the sales of the Nintendo Wii, which landed in third place, after the PlayStation 3. The PSP go, however, failed to move any units in said week.
