Best Developer – Team Asobi
It was a sad day for PlayStation fans everywhere when Sony announced it would be shutting down Japan Studio, a team that was a pillar of the history of PlayStation, who played a key role in so many iconic PlayStation titles since the beginning of the platform.
But while the Japan Studio is gone, out of its ashes, Team Asobi was formed, and it’s safe to say that the studio is doing what it can to keep the spirit of Japan Studio alive.
Astro Bot is a stunning game that holds true to the spirit of everything Japan Studio worked on in its years, with engaging gameplay and joy at the core of it. That’s a big part of why Team Asobi is PSU’s pick for Best Developer in 2024.
