According to a report on Bloomberg, PSVR 2 has sold around 270,000 units between its launch in late February and the end of March, which falls massively short of Sony’s project sales for the same period.
Francisco Geronimo, vice president of data and analytics at IDC, the low sales is down to ‘rising costs of living, rising interest rates and rising layoffs. I suspect a price cutm on the PSVR2 will be needed to avoid a complete disaster of their new product.
The PSVR 2 is a costly product at $549.99 although it’s still one of the cheapest entry points for high-end virtual reality gaming available on the market.
Perviously, Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, said the format holder is expecting PSVR 2 to outsell its predecessor overall, which moved around five million units during its lifetime.
