The news was confirmed alongside the release date of the next-generation version of PUBG, which will arrive day and date with PS5 and Xbox Series X. Here’s the official blurb confirming cross-generation multiplayer and more:
In addition to PUBG being playable from day one on next-gen, we will also be supporting cross-generation multiplayer alongside cross-platform play. This means that players on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 consoles will be able to squad up and play against each other on the battlefield.
PUBG launched for PS4 back in December 2018 having rolled out for PC and Xbox One the following year, and remains one of the most popular battle royale game alongside Fortnite. The PS5 version of the game will also leverage the PS4 Pro edition in terms of performance, which means it can achieve 60 FPS.
