Ubisoft has lifted the wraps off its Rainbow Six Extraction post-launch plans, which includes a series of free content drops including Maelstrom Protocol and Weekly Assignments to keep players engaged in the shooter.
The Maelstrom Protocol is a weekly challenge mode featuring tiered ranks and is targeted at the “most skilled Rainbow Six players.” Here, you’ll have to navigate a series of nine subzones that increase in difficulty, with tougher enemies and rapidly-depleting resources hampering your progress.
Each checkpoint will see players having to choose between extracting to bank their accumulated points, or push forward to the end. Points are used to secure a place in our to four classes, including Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, which rewards special headgear and REACT Credits.

Assignments are weekly modes with gameplay modifiers that put players’ skills to the test. For example, Veteran Mode involves no HUD, limited ammo, and friendly fire enabled. At launch, players can tackle both Maelstrom Protocol and weekly Assignments, with Crisis Events becoming available soon after.
