According to the latest Red Dead Redemption 2 rumor, Rockstar’s upcoming Wild West adventure may feature three playable characters, but John Marston, the central character in the first game, will not be one of them.
Red Dead Redemption 2 characters: Switch between three?
Claiming to be an insider, previously known for his/her apparent knowledge of the GTA Online updates before they were officially revealed, says that Rockstar will be taking a similar approach to GTA V where players could switch between Michael, Trevor and Franklin.
"It’ll be just like Redemption. Single player story. open world, stranger events, gang hideouts and all that s**t. Three playable characters of John’s former gang, and John isn’t one." the insider said in a forum post.
Red Dead Redemption 2, which was officially announced for PS4 and Xbox One in November, with a release date planned for 2017, is believed to have been in development for over two years. Rockstar has already confirmed that it will feature a dedicated online space similar to Grand Theft Auto Online, and it does makes sense that they might copy other elements that worked from its latest GTA game.
Here’s hoping the rumor of three main protagonists is correct!
What we do know for certain is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will "feature a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America", as confirmed by Take-Two. The latest trailer featured seven characters, though no more details were given.
If you never did get a chance to play the original game, it’s well worth a look and it’s playable via PlayStation Now on PS4.
