Remedy Reveals Control-Based Multiplayer Game, FBC: Firebreak, Will Launch Into PS Plus Game Catalog In 2025

We’ve known for a while that Remedy has been planning multiple titles in its Alan Wake/Control universe setting, including a multiplayer title set mainly in the game world of Control.

Today during Xbox’s Partner Preview event, we finally got to see what that game would be when FBC: Firebreak was revealed. A co-op first-person shooter where players will have to charge the Federal Bureau of Control and fight back against the invasion from “otherwordly forces,” Remedy says in a press release.

In that same press release, Remedy also revealed that FBC: Firebreak will launch on both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Game Catalog services when it arrives on PS5 and other modern platforms sometime in 2025.

So players subscribed to the PS Plus Extra or higher tiers of PS Plus will be able to download and check out FBC: Firebreak at no extra cost when it launches. A smart decision for a multiplayer game, since it’s the kind of move that can instantly give the game an audience.

You can check out the trailer for FBC: Firebreak for yourself, below.

Game director on FBC: Firebreak Mike Kayatta said in a press release “With FBC: Firebreak, our team is creating a gameplay-driven experience focused on cooperative gameplay that incorporates the strange, surreal elements our fans have come to expect. At Remedy, we have been looking to leverage our expertise in action and world-building in a co-op multiplayer setting, creating something that we hope is attractive to players who have not experienced our games before.”

‘FBC: Firebreak’ was a title that leaked earlier this year when a trademark for it by Remedy was spotted online, though we first knew of the game by its codename, Project Condor.

Firebreak has the distinction of being the only multiplayer game to actually get across the line from Remedy, since it cancelled its other multiplayer project.

With this game coming from a studio that’s always had a single-player focus, it’ll be interesting to see how Firebreak does and what it plays like.
