Fans of the Resident Evil 2 Remake won’t have to wait long for the next remake opportunity in the franchise. The Resident Evil 3 Remake announcement is still fresh, as Capcom finally confirmed its existence last week. Fans of the original will know that the story was quite limited, focusing more on gameplay. Thankfully, Capcom has expanded on the RE3R announcement by saying that the remake will offer thoughtful changes to the game.
Resident Evil 3 Remake expanding on original content
Much like with Resident Evil 2 Remake, RE3R intends to also expand on some of the side characters as well. As mentioned in the Resetera thread, Dario Rosso, a civilian from the original game, is expected to play a much bigger role in the remake. The extra love and attention given to characters like Robert Kendo and Lieutenant Marvin Branagh added a great deal to the end product of Resident Evil 2 Remake. So, seeing that same kind of delivery in RE3R dials the hype way up.
Two other aspects of the game that will be enhanced are the Hunter Betas and the fan-beloved Nemesis. In order to maximize their potential, Capcom intends to translate many aspects of these creatures. That way, gameplay will feature a more interesting experience within modern mechanics.
If you would like to see the entire Capcom TV episode mentioned above, I have included that full clip below. Be warned that the episode runs 3 hours and 40 minutes, but there’s a lot of offerings in this video. Some new Monster Hunter World monsters get a showcase near the end, but the true reason you’re here is to see more Resident Evil 3 Remake content.
The episode below is queued to 58:18, which is where they show off the Jill Valentine figurine that comes with the Collector’s Edition. A few gameplay clips play before this point, but there isn’t any new gameplay footage in there. If you would like to hear some more specific details from the above episode, hope over to Alex Aniel’s page on PSCP.TV. He streamed while the episode first aired, and he offers some light commentary on the Resident Evil 3 Remake-related footage. At the end of his commentary, Alex confirms that the next bit of gameplay footage for Resident Evil 3 Remake won’t arrive until early next year. So we have a bit of a wait before we see anything new from the ambitious project.
Resident Evil 3 Remake launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC April 3, 2020.
