Resident Evil 4 Remake Dev Warns Of ‘Rare But Critical Progress Bug’

Capcom has addressed a progression bug recently discovered in Resident Evil 4 Remake, which is described as a “rare but critical progress bug.” The issue rears its head after obtaining a key item after the cutscene at the start of Chapter 12.

Please refrain from attacking with the knife until the notification for obtaining this item is displayed in the upper right of the screen. After obtaining this key item, it will appear in the Key Items & Treasures menu in the attaché case. If it has not appeared, please reload saved data from before the start of Chapter 12.

If you don’t obtain the item then it will leave you unable to progress during the game, and Capcom has said that the bug is present in all versions of the horror title. However, Capcom said that it will address the problem in a future update.

After the update has been applied, players will be able to continue the game even with the saved data where the error previously occurred.
