Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode Launches December 8, Watch The Launch Trailer Here

Capcom has announced that PSVR 2 owners can tuck into Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode on December 8, 2023, and there’s also a free gameplay demo planned to give you an idea of what to expect.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode will be available as a free update, and allows you to play the full game from Leon S. Kennedy’s perspective, leveraging the power of Sony’s latest virtual reality headset to bring you closer to the survival horror title than ever before. The Sense controllers offer a unique feel for each weapon, while combat itself feels more intuitive than ever as you raise your weapon to fire and reload in VR.

The Resident Evil 4 VR Mode demo meanwhile will launch alongside the full version of the VR update on December 8, and allows you to sample the starting section of the game as well as taking the shooting range for a spin. Speaking of VR, we sampled the mode back in September at the Tokyo Game Show, so be sure to read our thoughts here.

Keisuke Yamakawa, the director of Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, commented:

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode takes advantage of advanced technology and features of PlayStation VR2, combined with the experience our development team has gained from previous Resident Evil VR titles, to allow players to truly become Leon and use a variety of weapons with their own hands to take on enemies which feel like they are standing right in front of you.

This unique experience is only possible in VR, so with the free demo for all players and the DLC releasing for free for owners of the full game, anyone with a PlayStation VR2 can experience how VR deepens the survival horror. I hope you enjoy the thrills and scares of this game, in which survival is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Resident Evil 4 Remake was originally released for PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2023, and you can read our full review here.
