Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil franchise, or Biohazard as it’s known in Japan, has sold over 107 million copies worldwide since its inception on March 22, 1996. Yes, that’s less than two months until the series celebrates its 25th anniversary – feeling old yet?
Speaking during its quarterly fiscal report, the studio also revealed that the Monster Hunter franchise has topped 66 million sales. It’s also worth noting that only nine months ago Resident Evil stood at 100 million, so it’s sold over seven million in less than a year, which is impressive.
No doubt that the recent Resident Evil 3 remake helped push sales of the survival horror franchise up a gear.
