Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster has sold 1.1 million copies since its launch in January for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
The publisher revealed back in May that the game had sold around 800,000 units as of March 31, meaning it has managed to drum up an additional 300,000 sales in the past four months. Not too shabby for an updated port of a 14-year-old game.
Speaking of which, the original GameCube version of Resident Evil Zero, released back in November 2002, has sold 1.25 million copies to date.
Zero’s success follows on the heels of Resident Evil HD Remaster, which sold over one million copies following its release in January 2015. That game is also approaching life-to-date sales of the original GameCube version from April 2002.
Capcom is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil this year, with the original survival horror classic launching on PlayStation back on March 22, 1996. In addition to Zero HD, the studio has also released current-generation versions of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, with Resident Evil 4 due on August 30.
Outside of that, we’ve also seen the launch of the spin-off title Umbrella Corps, although it’s probably one of the most egregious misfires in the series to date. Don’t believe us? Then read our Umbrella Corps review to find out more.
Capcom is also working on Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, with the latter scheduled to ship on January 24, 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. The game will also support PlayStation VR.
