ShinyHunters, the hacking group primarily believed to be teenagers that were able to access data from Rockstar Games a few days ago, have told the BBC they will publish the data online as their demands were not met.
Rockstar Games issued a statement to IGN confirming that they had been hacked by a third party, but noted that the data stolen did not impact their organisation or players. The Grand Theft Auto VI developer described it as “non-material company information.”
As previously reported, Rockstar Games had suffered a major intrusion back in 2022 when a teenager associated with the hacking group, Lapsus$, leaked a number of content related to Grand Theft Auto VI online. The individual, who was confirmed to be 17 at the time, was arrested in Oxfordshire, UK, and a year after their arrest famously stated their intention to resume criminal activities after they were released from jail.
Grand Theft Auto VI is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and is set to launch on November 19, 2026.
