Rocksteady Studios Was Hit By More Layoffs At The End Of Last Year

Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind last year’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the Batman Arkham titles, suffered another round of layoffs at the end of last year.

As reported by Eurogamer, the job losses were confirmed by half a dozen staff that were impacted by the layoffs, with roles affected including programming, artist, and QA staff. Rocksteady previously suffered a number of job losses back in September, with the QA team losing nearly half of its workforce.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released in February 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, but despite numerous delays and much anticipation, the game failed to hit the commercial heights and critical reception that is typically associated with Rocksteady. Last month, Rocksteady announced that the last update for Suicide Squad would be released this month, although servers will remain online for the foreseeable future.

Back in June last year, Rocksteady reportedly started pitching a single-player project in an effort to return to its roots.
