Rumor: PS4-exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to early 2017

Guerrilla Games’ upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn has been delayed until early 2017, according to industry insider, Shinobi602.

The ambitious title was originally revealed at E3 2015 after months of rumors, where the title was given a 2016 release window. However, Shinobi has claimed that this is no longer the case, and it’ll now turn up early next year.

Obviously, nothing has been confirmed by Sony, so treat this as a rumor for the time being. However, Shinobi has a proven track record, and is quickly becoming a trusted insider source among the gaming community.

Interestingly, he was quick to point out that Horizon has not been delayed as a result of the PS4.5. He later clarified his comments in a post on NeoGAF:

Yikes, I suppose I’ll chime in since that was taken way farther than I thought. Honestly it was just a general comment, obviously the whole point of the 4k is better looking games, that’s all I meant. It was never meant as a “It’ll run like ass on the PS4” chide. This is Guerrilla we’re talking about. Vast majority of this game’s development has been on the PS4. They’ve always done well in the performance department. I don’t think there’s a reason to fear for anything. “

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set in a post-apocalyptic future ruled by mechanical behemoths, with Earth long abandoned by humans. Players control hunter and archer, Aloy, who is forced to battle against these robot foes in order to harvest their component parts to aid her in surviving the hostile wastelands.
