Rumor – Sly Cooper 5 Leaked, 2020 Release Listed

The next instalment in the stealthy platforming series Sly Cooper may have just leaked online, with two sellers of digital keys having posted a listing for Sly Cooper 5 with 2020 release window. With the PlayStation 5 launching later this year, could Sony be prepping it as a launch title? Or maybe a cross-generation release?

Sly Cooper 5 Leaked?

Both Instant Gaming and Press-Start have listings for the as-yet unannounced Sly Cooper 5, although take them with a pinch of salt all the same – nothing has been confirmed by Sony or series developer Sanzaru Games at this point.

Speaking of Sanzaru, the studio recently said that if players want Sly Cooper to continue, they should simply tell Sony.

Sly Cooper made its debut back in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, and spawned the sequels Sly 2: Band of Thieves (2004), Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves (2005), and 2013’s aforementioned Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which also came to the PlayStation Vita.

In addition, Sanzaru Games ported the original trilogy to the PlayStation 3 with the Sly Collection (aka Sly Trilogy in Europe) back in 2010.

Despite being well received by critics and developing a loyal following, the Sly Cooper series has yet to grace the PlayStation 4, and at this point, it seems increasingly likely that we won’t given how close we are to next-gen.

The character of Sly has gained a lot of popularity among PlayStation owners, and as such Sony decided to feature him in PlayStation Move Heroes and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

If Sly Cooper 5 is indeed in the works, then it would definitely be great to have it launch in time for the PS5’s release this holiday season. Original series developed Sucker Punch Productions is currently busy with Ghost of Tsushima, which is launching this summer.

We love Sly Cooper as much as the next PlayStation fan, so let’s hope a return for the sneaky raccoon is on the cards.
