A report on Insider Gaming has claimed that both Far Cry 7 and Codename Maverick have been delayed internally from 2025 to 2026, with Ubisoft looking to change the formula of the franchise with both titles.
Blackbird and Maverick are currently in the works at Ubisoft Montreal and have switched to the Snowdrop engine from Dunia. Far Cry 7 — the next mainline instalment that is known as Blackbird — reportedly sees players having to rescue his family from a conspiracy cult performing hallucinogenic experiments on animals and a children.

According to Insider Gaming, the player has 24 real-life hours (or 72 hours in-game) to rescue their family and the timer can be tracked on the wristwatch worn by the player character. Meanwhile, Maverick is said to take place in the Alaskan wilderness, and sees players battling against not only each other, but animals and enduring the harsh weather.
Beyond this, it has been reported that both titles will see their movement mechanics completely overhauled, with tactical sprinting, sliding, vaulting, and more added into the mix. Ubisoft Montreal the supporting studios working on Blackbird are apparently optimistic, but there are reportedly concerns regarding Maverick due to recent happenings at the studio.
Insider Gaming previously leaked details on Far Cry 7 (aka Blackbird) in September 2023, at which point it claimed the game was set for a Fall 2025 release. It also revealed that family members can be rescued in any order the player decides, although as the story is non-linear it possible that some may be killed.
Ubisoft has yet to officially announced Far Cry 7 or Codename Maverick.
