The long-rumoured new PlayStation handheld from Sony is going to launch in 2028 and will incorporate an AMD-manufactured 2nm chip fabricated using Samsung’s SF2P process, according to a report by X user @Jukanlosreve.
According to the post, the new handheld is known under the codename of Jupiter internally and is described as a “low-power gaming SoC project.”
Back in February it was claimed by Moore’s Law Is Dead on YouTube that the new Sony handheld is in the early stages of production and would be powered by AMD. Earlier this month, a respected industry tipster posting on NeoGAF stated that the device is set to launch alongside the PS6, and prior to that it was claimed that the handheld will utilise shader binary compatibility, allowing PS5 games to be played on the unit without changes needed to be applied by developers.

Sony hasn’t announced anything about a new PlayStation handheld at this point, nor has it revealed any plans for its next-generation home console.
