A report on SEScoops has claimed that Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking at snapping up Warner Bros. Games‘ assets, which would include HBO Max streaming service, IPs, and gaming-related assets.
Sources said Sony was only interested acquiring WBD’s streaming, studio and gaming assets if they were separated from its cable networks, which have lost millions of homes as viewers abandon traditional cable packages.

The news comes following the announcement that Warner Bros. Discovery will be splitting the company into two entities, namely WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks. Yesterday, it was also revealed that Warner Bros. Games would be undergoing restructuring to focus on its major gaming IPs, such as the DC Universe, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Mortal Kombat 1.
Back in January it was revealed that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president, David Haddad, would be stepping down from the company after 12 years. The company suffered a major blow recently due to the financial failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which ended support less than a year after launch.
