Control Resonant Gameplay Designer Confirms Its ‘Core Experience’ Will Last Around 30 Hours

Control Resonant Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov has revealed during an interview with TechRadar that the “core experience” for the upcoming sequel should last around 30 hours.

Mohov did note however that those of you who looking to complete everything can expect to put in about “50 hours” into Control Resonant, so there’s plenty of extra content to squeeze out of the game by the sounds of it. Furthermore, Mohov noted that you don’t necessarily have to experience the original Control before jumping into the sequel — but doing so will “enrich your experience.”

I don’t think you have to play the first Control game to play Resonant,” he said, “but if you do, it will enrich your experience, especially narratively. We put in a Control recap, right at the top of the main menu, though, so you don’t need to [play it].”

Control Resonant takes places in Manhattan, where the Federal Bureau of Control is running out of options as it faces an unprecedented paranatural crisis. Dylan Faden is dispatched by the FBC to take on a mysterious cosmic entity that tinkering with the fundamental aspects of our reality, and therefore it’s up to Faden to harness his supernatural abilities and face off against a series of mind-bending threats.

Remedy will launch Control Resonant on September 24, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
