SEGA of America is reportedly laying off around 10% of its total staff, with 61 employees set to lose their jobs, according to automated Twitter account What Layoff.
Spotted by a user on Reddit, the account reveals that a California WARN notice notes that the company “will lay off 61 employees on March 8, 2024.” The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification legally requires companies to issue 60 days of notice before a mass layoff.
As reported by VGC, the State of California’s Employment Development Department of Sega of America has given notice of plans for two rounds of layoffs — one of 49 staff and the other for 12 employees — which will come into effect on March 8.
