The upcoming ‘Super Game‘ from SEGA is set to put a major emphasis on user generated content, the company’s chief operating officer has said during an interview with CNBC.
Shuji Utsumi shared a bit more insight into the title during the chat, which is labelled as a ‘Super Game’ as it it isn’t exactly Metaverse and therefore wouldn’t be labelled as such.
Super Game is not just a game, when we introduced that name there was a big of buzz about the Metaverse, it’s not exactly Metaverse, so we tried to figure out what is the right word, so we came up with the name called ‘Super Game’. It’s not only a game, but also community, user-generated content, and a new way of having fun with games.
Originally announced during its presentation for the fiscal year ended March 2021, the Super Game was mentioned as part of a five-year plan for SEGA. Earlier this month, it was revealed that the company is hoping to have the game ready by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2026, and that the project is making steady headway.
