The head of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) has admitted he was surprised to see both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue III announced during the format holder’s E3 2015 press conference last month.
Speaking with GameReactor UK, Shuhei Yoshida said he had "working hard for The Last Guardian" for its long-awaited re-reveal at E3, and as such didn’t know about "the other two games."
The other two games are of course Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue III, which alongside The Last Guardian, provided one of the strongest line-ups in Sony’s illustrious E3 history. Yoshida-san later confessed he was "blown away" by their appearance.
The executive closed by saying he’s "very happy" that these titles have enjoyed the reaction among gamers worldwide that followed.
The Last Guardian is due for release in 2016, with Shenmue III pencilled in for a December 2017 launch. Final Fantasy VII Remake has yet to attract a release date, though it isn’t hard to imagine the game arriving in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of the original game.
