Silent Hill 2 Remake PS5 Physical Release Contains Older Build Of The Game With Slightly Altered Cutscenes

The physical version of Silent Hill 2 Remake on PS5 contains a hidden alternate build of the survival horror title providing you don’t download any updates.

This older version of the game is dated April 2024, and can be accessed by installing the game on your PS5 but pausing the update that will likely start downloading once it detects the game in your console. If successful, you can boot up version 1.00, which lacks some polish of the final build but also features a few alternate scenes.

For example, the cutscenes feature alternate camera angles, such as the sequence where James encounters Angela in the cemetery for the first time, where she has noticeable thicker eyebrows. Remember all that backlash from ‘fans’ who criticised Bloober Team for changing how Angela looks in comparison to the original? Well, the image of her is from this build.
