Earlier, we reported that, according to IGN sources, Uncharted series writer Amy Hennig had left Naughty Dog under suspicious circumstances.
The nature of those circumstances, which may have involved being "forced out" by The Last of Us directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, are still unclear. But Sony has responded to IGN’s request for clarification–Amy Hennig has indeed left the company, but we’re told Uncharted on PS4 won’t be impacted in any way:
"We can confirm that Amy Hennig has left Naughty Dog. Amy has made significant contributions to the game industry and we appreciate all she has done for Naughty Dog. The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted."
Details will surely continue to break in the coming days, but it’s strange to think of Uncharted continuing without Hennig’s direction. Her interpretation of serial adventures gave life to some of PlayStation’s most iconic characters. Her work on Jak & Daxter and Legacy of Kain was tremendous, as well.
As always, join the conversation in the comments below and tell us if you think Hennig’s departure will affect Uncharted PS4.
