Sony has undoubtedly been one of the leading providers of innovation within the gaming industry for the past 15 years. The latest idea that Sony has been tampering with, 3D console gaming, is on display in a CES tech demo which displays Gran Turismo 5 and WipEout HD not only in their HD glory, but in full 3D as well. While this tech demo was only shown to a select few earlier in the week, those who experienced it were quite impressed.
According to Ars Technica, it’s "one of the best demos of 3D technology [they] have ever seen."
Don’t get too excited just yet, however, or we’ll have another Home release date epidemic on our hands. Apparently, Sony is just testing the technology right now, without any plans to implant this tech into people’s homes any time soon.
"We’re not going to talk about specifications," said a Sony rep. "This is just a look at what 3D could look like if Sony decided to move in this direction."
Color us excited, but also green with envy that we didn’t get the chance to check this out. We’ve included a picture of the 3D glasses being modeled by one of Ars Technica’s lucky employees below .
