Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a new patent indicating that the PS5 DualSense controller will feature sensors used to detect users for profile purposes.

Separate from this is a portable device that looks similar to the PS Vita, which sits alongside a keyboard and mouse and other previously-confirmed PS5 peripherals. It’s unknown what this could mean, although we wouldn’t read too much into this right now.
Sony hasn’t said anything about sensors for the PS5 DualSense in relation to the patent details above, and more than often these things are filed without ever materialising. The patent was published on August 20, so it is very recent, however.

The DualSense controller features a number of advantages over its predecessor, chief among which includes haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. In addition, it also adds a Create button, which replaces the Share function on the DualShock 4, but is believed to work in a similar manner.
Sony has confirmed a holiday 2020 launch window for the PS5, although an exact date has yet to be announced.
