Sony Europe boss Andrew House has reaffirmed the company’s interest in pursuing a premium service for PlayStation Network, confirming that details on such a move will be announced soon.
Despite this, House was quick to point out to PS3 owners that the current PSN service "as you know it" will remain free of charge. In regards to a possible Premium service, however, it sounds as though we can expect something at E3.
"I can assure you that the current PSN as you know it will remain a free service," said House. It is something that our competitors don’t offer and something that shows our loyalty to the PlayStation Community.
"However, Kaz Hirai stated a few months ago that we were looking at a premium service to sit alongside the current free service and that objective has not changed. You’ll learn more about it very soon."
Rumors have it the service will be titled PSN+. With Sony’s E3 press conference taking place in less than three weeks, we won’t have to wait long to find out.
