Sony Unveils Upcoming Changes To PS5 Trophies, Including New Levels, Calculation System, And Icons

Sony has unveiled the upcoming changes to PS5 trophies, including new icons and levels as well as a fresh calculations system for them.

First of all, the trophy level range which is currently set to 1-100 will be changing to 1-999 and once the update to the system arrives, you will automatically be remapped to the new level within this new range based on the trophies you have earned so far. For example, if your current level is 12, your new level will jump to somewhere in the low 200’s.

The new calculation system is more optimised and rewarding. Players will progress quickly through earlier levels, and difficulty will increase more consistently. Platinum Trophies will also count more towards your level progression. This change comes with updated trophy level icons, with a Bronze being awarded for levels 1-299, Silver being awarded for levels 300-599, Gold being awarded for levels 600-998, and a Platinum being awarded for level 999. These icons will show up next to your level and are separate from the individual images of the trophy cups we have come to know.

The best news? All of these updates will be implemented system-side later today in North America and tomorrow in Europe.

The PS5 releases on November 12, 2020, in the US and November 19, 2020, in the UK and EU.
