Square Enix’s stunning Agni’s Philosophy tech demo turned more than a few heads at E3 last month, with the company giving gamers their first proper glimpse at how software could conceivably look on next-generation systems.
However, Takeshi Nozue, Square’s creative director and senior manager, has said that both PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 are going to have to pack a considerable amount of RAM under their hoods if they are to replicate the eyeball-popping visual quality seen in the Luminous engine demo.
Speaking with EDGE, Nozue-san revealed that “memory size is the biggest challenge” in running the demo, which was captured running on Nvidia’s GTX 680 graphics card at the Los Angeles-based convention.
Despite this, Nozue-san noted that Square remains confident that Sony and Microsoft will “come to a level of quality that will support” Agni’s stunning graphics.
Both PS4 and Xbox 720 are heavily rumored to be making an appearance at E3 2013, and have been pegged for a Holiday 2013/early 2014 launch.
