Electronic Arts has announced that the first expansion for Star Wars Battlefront will drop in early 2016 on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
The publishing giant confirmed the details on its official website, which it updated overnight with the following details of the sci-fi shooter’s future content drops. The first of these will be the free ‘Battle of Jakku’ DLC, which will not be included in the Season Pass.

Star Wars Battlefront’s Season Pass will set you back $49.99 and includes early access to the planned expansions plus a series of other content, including the exclusive Shoot First emote. The game was released yesterday in the U.S. and arrives in Europe on Friday, although some PS4 users have reported issues getting into the online firefights upon booting up the game. From the look of things, EA isn’t done with the Battlefront series going forward, hinting earlier this week that it intends to develop more entries in the much-loved franchise in addition to other Star Wars-related games. Star Wars Battlefront pleasingly runs at a stable 60fps on PS4.
Star Wars Battlefront eschews the single-player campaign seen in previous instalments of the popular franchise, and focuses on large-scale multiplayer battles. Gamers will find themselves taking on the role of a Rebel or Imperial trooper as they battle it out on a number of iconic locations throughout the Star Wars universe, such as Tatooine, Sullust, Endor, and Hoth. In addition, you can also take control of legendary ‘Hero and Villain’ characters from the series, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, and Han Solo.
