Classic brawler Street Fighter 3: Third Strike will be playable offline when it hits PlayStation Network later this month, Capcom has confirmed.
"The game does not make use of Sony’s network DRM," said Capcom USA’s senior vice president of strategic planning and business development, Christian Svensson.
"It is playable offline. We deemed that very important for future tournament use."
The news will no doubt please those irked by previous Capcom efforts that wouldn’t let you play in offline mode, such as the PSN version of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2.
Elsewhere, Svensson went on to confirm the fighter will feature a number of tournament rule sets, including the “Evo rules,” which lets organisers ban specific characters, set blind selects and determine rounds. All rule sets come in the eight-man, single elimination format.
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike will be released on August 24 as part of Sony’s new PlayStation Network PLAY initiative.
