System Shock Remake Is Getting It’s Biggest Patch Yet Ahead Of Its Console Release

System Shock Remake is set to arrive on PS5 this coming May 21, 2024, though players on PC will begin enjoying its biggest update yet as early as next week, on April 11, 2024.

This update adds a “completely reworked” ending, according to Nightdive Studios founder Stephen Kick in an interview with PC Gamer. It also includes the choice of being a female Hacker and much more.

The ‘much more’ in patch 1.2 looks to be Mutant Combat Enhancements, an Easy Mode Waypoint System, and Mutant Behavioral Modifications, none of which fully explained by Nightdive at time of writing.

When the full patch notes are available is when we’ll likely have our answers, but for now everything sounds to be like changes that console players will simply be able to jump in and enjoy as their base experience of the game.

Nightdive’s work to remake System Shock has been lauded by players and critics on PC since it released in May 2023, and it’s arrival on consoles this May marks the first time a seminal game in the industry’s history will be playable on something other than a PC.

If you’re a fan of games like Bioshock, then you should be keeping an eye on when System Shock Remake drops on PS5, since you’ll finally have a chance (if you’ve never had a gaming PC) to see the game that provided the foundations for Bioshock.
