Bandai Namco Games has confirmed on Twitter that the Tekken 7 release date will be announced at some point next week.
It has been suggested this week that the hotly anticipated fighting game sequel will launch in mid-March, which would mean the game will arrive on home consoles two years after its debut in Japanese arcades on March 18, 2015.
Tekken 7 is due to hit PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One when it eventually sees the light of day, and will be based on the latest version of the arcade version of the game, namely Fated Retribution. The game’s storyline focuses on the epic conclusion to the long-running Mishima family feud, although this time there’s a wrench thrown into the works in the shape of Street Fighter’s Akuma.
In terms of gameplay, Tekken 7 eschews the ‘Bound’ system that featured heavily in Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and instead introduces a number of extra features such as Rage Arts and the Tailspin. In addition, it also adds a wealth of new characters such as Shaheen, the series’ first Saudi Arabian character, plus other fresh faces like Gigas and Lucky Chloe.
