The Call of Duty movie from Paramount Pictures will be based on the Modern Warfare games, which probably isn’t surprising considering the popularity of those titles among fans.
No details on the game’s plot have been confirmed yet, but it’s fair to say we should probably expect the likes of Captain Prince, Soap, or Ghost to show up at some point — although that’s just speculation on my part, given that they’re iconic characters from the Modern Warfare series.
The Call of Duty movie will be directed by Peter Berg and features Taylor Sheridan as its writer and producer. A press release for the movie stated that it’s “designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”
This year’s entry in the multi-million selling first-person shooter franchise is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is slated to launch for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on October 23, 2026. The Call of Duty movie is scheduled to hit cinemas in June 2028.
