Ubisoft has closed the doors on access to The Division beta, which is due to begin today, January 29, on PlayStation 4.
Users were guaranteed access to the beta by preordering Ubisoft’s shooter, but due to an ‘unprecedented level of interest’ the French publisher has now restricted access across 44 countries.
We understand that players who have already downloaded the beta client will be able to access the game when it launches at 12pm (GMT) today, but access will be blocked for those who preordered via PSN, and haven’t yet downloaded the beta.
Ubisoft made the following statement:
"We are seeing an unprecedented level of interest in The Division closed beta and we want to warmly thank our fans for their enthusiasm and passion.
We’ve already reached the capacity of players needed to test the game and online infrastructure during the beta and to prepare for the launch of the game (on PS4) on March 8.
As a result, at this time we’re closing access to the closed beta through the PSN pre-order system."
The following countries are affected: Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom.
The high demand could be connected to The Division beta exploit, in which players were preordering The Division on the PlayStation Store and then cancelling it.
The Division launches on March 8 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
