The Elder Scrolls 6 Is Playable In Early Builds As Bethesda Celebrates 30 Years Of The Iconic Franchise

Bethesda is this week celebrating 30 years of The Elder Scrolls franchise, and in doing so has revealed a brief update on The Elder Scrolls 6, which it confirmed has early builds playable at the developer.

A snippet of the lengthy Twitter post reads as follows:

Last but not least, yes, we are in development on the next chapter — The Elder Scrolls VI. Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure. Thank you again for supporting us all these decades, and all you have brought to the games, making them your own. We couldn’t be more excited to continue it and celebrate the next 30 years.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced at E3 2018 via a brief logo and art work but has yet to see the light of day beyond that brief teaser. However, Bethesda always made it clear that Starfield would see a release first, so it was always going to be a long way off.

Of course, things have changed quite a lot since the game’s announcement, as this was before Microsoft snapped up ZeniMax Media. As such, this cast a lot of doubt as to whether the game would come to PS5, and back in September 2023, files from Microsoft’s battle with the FTC suggested it would not arrive on the Sony console.

However, with Microsoft’s announcement that it’s bringing four titles to PS5 that were previously exclusive to Xbox, there is always a possibility that The Elder Scrolls 6 could one day appear on PlayStation again.
