Sony has filed a new trademark for The Last Guardian after the platform holder seemingly abandoning its previous filing earlier this year.
Interestingly, this is the third time that Sony has filed a trademark for the long-delayed project, which was originally announced as a PlayStation 3-exclusive back in 2009.
However, Sony insisted after the last trademark was abandoned that it was still working on the title, headed by Team ICO’s Fumito Ueda.
The Last Guardian was due for a release in winter 2011 but was delayed and has yet to see the light of day.
Many rumors and developments have sprung up since then, including Ueda-san now working on the project on a freelance basis, while speculation has suggested the game is now coming to PS4.
Former Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) boss, Jack Tretton, raised eyebrows a few years back when he implied the game had been put on the backburner, which Sony was quick to deny.
Prior to the trademark confusion, Sony assured gamers back in October 2014 that it was ‘working diligently‘ on the game.
